The Wicktonville Fire Department operates with four engines (two equipped with Rapid Intervention Crew equipment) and two quints. Additionally, most members have
a variety of fire gear in their personal vehicles, including firefighting
turnouts and SBCA breathing gear. A few more enterprising volunteers also
have hose reels on their pickup trucks and equipment to attach to fire
hydrants until the pumpers arrives on-scene.
Wicktonville adopted a Public Safety model in 2011, whereby all police officers also are State-certified firefighters and EMT/Paramedics, carrying AED devices and can provide medical assistance until an ambulance arrives. This providers a faster medical response and saves our community its tax dollars by not dispatching fire vehicles to most medical calls.
